More Winter White in the Boathouse

Hello everyone,

Today, I did a little more winter/

Christmas decorating in the 

Boathouse......still carrying on the

winter white theme.

                                                      Cozy up with a cup of tea.    

                                                            Warm and cozy.

                                                          My thrift store stockings.

The old skates that I painted last

 year and added some furry trim.

It is going to be mild and wet here

tomorrow but after I get some

Christmas baking done I hope

to do a little more fluffing in

the Boathouse and then maybe

curl up in there with a cup of

hot cocoa!

Tartans & Plaids

                                                                      Hello everyone,

                                                           On this lovely winter day, I thought
                                                            I would share some of the ways I
                                                            have enjoyed using plaids and tartens
                                                            over the past few years.

                                                                 I used a mix of plaids to decorate our
                                                                 bedroom a few years ago.

                     I like a mix of plaids and tartans...

           even a bit of toile in there.

                                                               A plaid cushion for the garden
                                                               bench on the porch of the boathouse.

                                                                A milk delivery on the porch.....
                                                                alas it is no longer delivered to
                                                                the door as it once was.

                                                                  Vintage skates from a yard sale.

                                                               If only there was a little more
                                                               snow, this would have been perfect!

                                                             A pretty vintage tartan picnic box.

   

   Love these little red shoes.

A Winter White Christmas in our Boathouse

       Hello everyone,

Hope you had a lovely weekend. We

enjoyed Christmas concerts that our 

grandchildren were in and a sleepover

  with a couple of little ones this weekend.

Today, I decided it was time to decorate

our Boathouse for Christmas and this 

year it is a winter white theme.

         I still have more to do in here

           but I will show you my fun for

the day!

                                                                 This is one of my favorite places
                                                                  to be ....the reading nook.

  

      The stockings are hung.

                                                           

                                                               The fireplace castsa cozy glow but
                                                               alas, no heat. I use an electric header
                                                               to take out the chill this time of year.

                                                                Curl up and enjoy a cup
                                                                of hot cocoa.

I still have some fluffing to do and I

hope to do the rest of the Boathouse

  in white before we get to much snow.

                                                            Although we had some snow a
                                                            couple of weeks it has since melted
                                                            but a new supply is expected tonight.

I am starting the 2016 Community Plot Series off with building beds. I show you how to build and fill a 4 x 4 raised bed. I talk about the benefits of raised beds and why I choose them for that part of the garden. I also use principles in 'Back to Eden Gardening' which included using fresh wood chips and layers of compost and manure. Basically following Nature's direction.

Our Library at Christmas

      Hello!

            I hope you are enjoying a lovely

      weekend.

               I find it hard to believe Christmas

                will be here and gone in 2 weeks!

                   I have been enjoying the cozy lights

                      etc. in our library.

                                                              We just finished putting up
                                                              our big tree in here but I didn't
                                                              get any photos of it yet.

                                                                      It is a cozy place for
                                                                      dining as well as reading.

                                                                               

                                                              I have set the table for a romantic
                                                              dinner for two.

                                                                My collection of Friendly Village by
                                                                Johnson Bros. is out on display for the
                                                                winter season.

Tea, anyone?

     With the long evenings it is so

          nice to dine by the fireside and if

               you noticed that I am short on words,

             dinner is cooking as we speak and I

           plan to enjoy it here in our library.

A Winter Tartan Picnic

      Hello everyone,

I hope you had a lovely weekend.

We had great weather for all the

outdoor Christmas events.

Since we had some snow but mild

temperatures I did a little  outdoor

photo shoot.

I like to set up our porch with a winter

display that I enjoy even just looking

out from the doorway.

                                      This time I used a blue /green 

             tartan theme.

                       Winter picnics are fun too.

                           Love this tartan gift bag.

                                                          You can see we had a good cover of
                                                          snow on the trees and shrubs.It was
                                                          pretty but thousands of homes were without power
                                                          some for a couple of days because of the weight
                                                         of snow on the wires across the Island.
                                                     

                       With more sunshine and mild temperatures

                    for most of this week, I think I will make

                       a thermos of hot cocoa and sit out and enjoy

             the fresh air and the beauty of nature.
